Ashiatsu Oriental Bar Therapy ®

Ashiatsu - (ashi means foot and atsu means pressure).

Ashiatsu is an ancient form of bodywork using deep compression from the feet to bring about a structural change in chronic soft tissue damage. It provides deep relaxation and stimulates the body's lymphatic system. It is highly effective for low back conditions, and for clients who feel they just can't find a therapist that can give them enough pressure. It is the deepest, most luxurious massage on the planet!

HOW DOES IT WORK? Using a protocol of strokes that are gliding with the pressure of the feet, you are creating a "push, pull, pumping" effect on the intervertebral disc space. This deep compression on the soft tissue around the joints allows the nucleus pulposus (inside the disc) to assume its central position within the annular fibers and relieve irritations on the spinal nerve caused by inflammation and swelling.

MY EXPLANATION: Gentle but deep.  Opens fascia adhesions and relaxes tense muscles.  Deep but not painful, (normally not sore the next day). Ashiatsu is done on the backside of the body. Can be done on most body types, as in other types of massage, the pressure varies from client to client.  We DO NOT WALK on your back; most strokes are done with therapist body weight on a stool or on massage table next to client.  Once you have this work done, you will feel how your body should feel, and may not want to go back to traditional type massage.

Neuromuscular Massage

Neuromuscular Massage is a form of deep tissue massage that is applied to individual muscles. It is used to increase blood flow, reduce pain and release pressure on nerves caused by injuries to muscles and other soft tissue. Neuromuscular massage helps release trigger points, intense knots of tense muscle can also "refer" pain to other parts of the body. Relieving a tense trigger point in your back, for example, could help ease pain in your shoulder or reduce headaches.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a special form of massage and is typically used before, during, and after athletic events. The purpose of the massage is to prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. The main purpose of sports massage therapy is to help alleviate the stress and tension which builds up in the body’s soft tissues during physical activity. Where minor injuries and lesions occur, due to overexertion and/or overuse, massage can break them down quickly and effectively. The massage will help prepare the athlete for peak performance, to drain away fatigue, to relieve swelling, to reduce muscle tension, to promote flexibility and to prevent injuries. Sports massage can help prevent those niggling injuries that so often get in the way of performance and achievement, whether a person is an athlete or a once a week jogger.

Hot Stone Therapy

This is an age old therapy dating back 5000 years to India.  They discovered that heat relaxes muscles, allowing manipulation of a greater intensity than with regular massage. The warmer stones expand the blood vessels, pushing blood and unwanted waste materials through the body. This has a sedative effect on the nervous system. Stone massage makes you feel deeply relaxed, allowing you to let go of all the stress that is held within your body. The hot stones have a tendency to relax the muscles and draw out muscle pain and discomfort. Those experiencing a hot stone massage will notice a healing improvement of the following symptoms: muscular aches, pains, sprains, and strains, poor circulation, rheumatic and arthritic conditions, fibromyalgia, MS, back pain, stress, anxiety and tension, insomnia and depression.

Swedish Massage

Was developed in the 1700's by a Swedish doctor named Per Henrik Ling. The term "Swedish Massage" refers to a variety of techniques specifically designed to relax muscles by applying pressure to them against deeper muscles and bones, and rubbing in the same direction as the flow of blood returning to the heart. Swedish massage techniques include: long strokes, kneading, friction, tapping, percussion, vibration, effleurage, and shaking motions.

Ear Candling

Safe and painless way to treat ear aches, allergies, sinuses, sore throat, chronic headaches, and swimmers ear. Ear candling draws out infection, ear wax, yeast, and moisture from deep inside the ear canal and sinuses. This process takes about 30 minutes and is very relaxing. A special herb candle is placed in the ear. The top is lit and the smoke enters the ear canal and sinus area. A drying effect is created which will draw up the wax and infection into the bottom of the candle. When the candle is burned down to about 2 inches, the flame is put out and the bottom of the candle is opened to expose infection, ear wax, and all dried debris that has been drawn out of the ear.

My office is very professional, quiet, comfortable, and relaxing. I use a heated water bottle, a hydroculator, and aroma therapy to work on the tight and tense areas of the muscles. I use a variety of techniques, depending on the clients needs.

My office is STRICTLY NON-SEXUAL, the client will be draped by a sheet at all times, and only the area of the body that is being worked on will be exposed. It is important to keep muscles that have been worked warm and free from drafts.
